Busy Update [Thursday 19th May 2017]

Image
Sorry for the lack of posts, i've been really busy recently and haven't had time. Also illness has kept me in bed. It's been a couple of days since I last posted to this blog, actually it's been a couple of weeks. Sorry guys. I'll try harder next time.  School is taking up a lot my time. And I've been helping my brother revise for his GCSEs . Luckily he's pretty smart so it's not too bad, just want to make sure he does alright. I found them really stressful and I was totally surprised when I got some good scores. You'll be glad to hear that I am keeping with the healthy body healthy mind routine. Put on a bit of (muscular) weight and now I'm finally fitting my XS t-shirts lol. So yeah sorry for this being a bit short. Don't worry I've got some plans for this.   Pic unrelated just needed something, guess it fits I have been feeling happier lately. I'll say it's being healthy that caused it so people will listen to me.

Gone Campin' [Friday 5th May 2017]

Happy one week anniversary everyone! I cannot believe how popular this blog is after just one week, I cannot thank you all enough for the support and motivation! I've packed my rucksack, ate a huge (but healthy) meal and made sure I have enough tea for the weekend. I don't know why, but I'm taking so much stuff. I've filled a 90L rucksack, if you're not sure how big that is, I can crouch and have the top flap pulled over and buckled shut. It is enormous. Most of it is spare clothes, the forecast is torrential rain which I am not looking forward to, it should be fun though . A lot of people are really annoying me at the moment and I can't wait to leave them and their stupid faces behind. I hope you guys are doing well. TGIF! Slowly I am getting used the healthy ways. I've started going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time usually eight hours late; this is the best idea I've ever had. It's so satisfying not being sleepy at school

Teaching Diabetes [Thursday 4th May 2017]

Image
I feel that diabetes is not as high profile as other diseases. Let's do something about this. I'm going to start teaching online lessons about diabetes. The idea came to me last night. I realised that a lot of people know of diabetes, but don't know about it. This is probably because it is not as lethal as something like cancer. But it does effect just as many people, not in the same way but it it a huge inconvenience.  Obesity is a growing problem (pun not intended, that's horrible :/ ),  many people don't understand the consequences of obesity. This, along with lack of support is a huge reason why people are not taking action to improve their health.  Now I want to change that, by spreading the word about diabetes we can save lives and money. A colossal amount of money is spent on helping these people lose weight; that is all unnecessary if you educate the population. You can help too buy sharing this blog with everyone you know, and also the online less

Elon Musk [Wednesday 3rd May 2017]

Image
Elon Musk is my kinda guy. Not in the super smart, super rich, super innovative way. But in the really bad dad jokes kind of way. I was watching his TED talk today and learned of his new " boring company ". He's also got a really fit girlfriend which I am very jealous of. Anyway today has been a good day. If you want to try and eat healthier, eat better not less. Eat four good meals a day instead of three not-filling meals and also two or three snacks. That is one tip I've learnt. I now have a bowl of soup when I get home from university and it is the most pleasing thing ever after a thirty minute walk home in the wind and rain. Going to bed tired and full after a run or gym and then having a large bowl of pasta is one of the nicest things ever. I've started sleeping longer.  There's this fattish guy in my class who laughed when he heard I was trying to be healthier. What a dick. He claimed that being healthy is only useful for athletes...even though h

Off Topic [Tuesday 2nd May 2017]

I've been trying really hard to keep up with the healthy eating and it is working, I feel so much better. But I'm not sure how long I can keep it up. This weekend I am going camping with some friends in the Lake District. It's going to be really cool, I've always loved camping and we're doing a run/camp thing where we run to our camping spot each day, should be running about twelve miles a day. This is the point where you think I am mad. I've started packing my rucksack and went shopping to get food but I quickly realised, how do you be healthy and full at the same time when you need 3000 calories a day? I guess it won't be too bad as I am doing a lot of exercise.  Still wondering about what I could eat that's healthy. Just done some research, I found some protein bars that are really low in sugar. I bet they taste disgusting though. 25g of protein, I'm going to be ripped by next Monday.  I also have my 1000 calorie ration packs. I think I ha

Addicted To Sugar [Sunday 30th April 2017]

This May (see what I did there?) be harder than I thought, I now understand why people give up diets so quickly. I feel like I am going to die... I'm not a hypochondriac, honest, but the lack of sugar is making me feel terrible. I've got the shakes! I feel like a recovering alcoholic; soon I'll be at SA meetings (sugar anonymous) talking about my past. Not a nice thought, at all. Today is Sunday which means moaning about the shit on British TV and getting progressively tireder throughout the day without doing anything at all. So sorry this is going to be a pretty boring post, don't know what else to say. Ooh I did some pretty painful core exercises this morning and now it hurts when I laugh; good thing I don't laugh often. *The Sound Of Silence Plays*  Sorry about the bad jokes, I did warn you :D blame the healthiness.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes, caused by high blood sugar levels damaging the back of the eye (retina). It can cause blindness if left undiagnosed and untreated. So go and see a doctor if you have diabetes or think you have diabetes. The retina is the light-sensitive layer of cells at the back of the eye that converts light into electrical signals. The signals are sent to the brain and the brain turns them into the images you see. The retina needs a constant supply of blood, which it receives through a network of tiny blood vessels. Over time, a persistently high blood sugar level can damage these blood vessels in three main stages: Tiny bulges develop in the blood vessels, which may bleed slightly but don’t usually affect your vision – this is known as background retinopathy. More severe and widespread changes affect the blood vessels, including more significant bleeding into the eye – this is known as pre-proliferative retinopathy. Scar tissue an
